Physiological effects of stress in the long term

When someone suffers from chronic stress or the ongoing trauma from a negative life changing event, it is very physically exhausting. If you imagine your body continuously in a fight or flight response state then it should become obvious that this will quickly drain your physical and emotional resources. It takes so much energy that our bodies simply cannot maintain this level of alertness indefinitely.

Following on from this work, many other researchers have investigated the link between long-term stress and physical illness or disease.

Propagating Banksias

PROPAGATING BANKSIAS

Banksias may be propagated by seed, cuttings, tissue culture or grafting.

Seed propagation is the easiest and the way most nurseries have (traditionally) grown Banksias. Seed is encased in a hard woody fruit that rarely opens to release seed except in extreme heat, such as a fire. This characteristic protects seeds from being eaten by insects or other animals until plant regeneration is needed. After a fire, seed tends to be released dispersed and will germinate in large quantities. Many though not all species have lignotubers that will sprout foliage and regenerate a damaged plant after a fire.

This is an extract from our Banksia ebook.

How Do You Save a Business that is Failing

.....extract from a new book by John Mason and staff

Recognising Problems - Where Did Things Go Wrong?

Successful businesses do not remain stagnant.  A good business manager recognises this fact, and is aware that a business only has two realistic options – to get better, or worse. Remaining the same is never an option.

It is important to recognise problems as early as possible. Delays in recognising problems often makes them worse and can cause delays to finding possible solutions.
